Chris released her and ran his hand through his hair. "Your ex-husband is the guy who's been trying to kill us?" |

"Looks that way." She paused. "How do you know about him? You saw him? Talked to him?" |

"I saw him." Chris shrugged. "I didn't wait around to talk. I could tell by his face he meant trouble. The way he crept around told me he hadn't come on a social call, and since we are on the run from someone who wants us deadI put two and two together." |

She nodded. "I hear you. For some reason he's got it into his head we're dangerous to him. Although he could just be looking for me, I doubt it. I think he's looking for this." She paused and dug inside her shirt, producing a photography, which she held out toward him. Chris squinted but could see nothing in the dark. |

She folded the picture and put it into the breast pocket of her shirt. "It's a picture you took at the station. The holding cell. How did you get in there? It's off limits to the public." |

"The mayor told Captain Miller I was to have full run of the station." |

"The mayor: I forgot about him. All right, that explains you, but not Rich." |

Chris shook his head. He'd never known D.J. to babble except when she was very nervous. "Calm down. You're not making any sense. What's so great about this picture?" |
